The team here at The Rosewood Initiative is taking COVID-19 and our responsibility to the community very seriously. After much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to close the center and cancel gatherings until further notice.
Rohingya Community Organizer
Abidah strives to build relationships and partnerships with the Rohingya community in the Rosewood neighborhood, connect them to resources and needs.
Community Asset Director
Ashton's focus is on improving the community's quality of life in various areas. He is dedicated to seeing that the members of the community see positive growth without displacing them.
Black Community Organizer
Bretto has a passion for working with the community. He strives to build relationships and partnerships with the Black community in the Rosewood neighborhood.
Latinx Community Organizer
Fabiola helps community members navigate resources as well as building relationships with the Latinx community.
Jossie de la Garza
Jossie strives to guide community members to be leaders & make the changes they want to see in the community. Creates communications strategies, & content for Rosewood.
Kem advocates for equitable policy initiatives in the Rosewood neighborhood. He ensures community voices are heard by decision makers.
Partnerships & Operations Director
Manages grants & contracts. Marissa works to ensure a fully funded organization. Making connections between staff, community, and larger initiatives in the area.
Social Media Coordinator
Merrill's manages Rosewood's social media, creating content and sharing resources for community members in an accessible way.
Nepali Community Organizer
Neema strives to build relationships and partnerships with the Rohingya community in the Rosewood neighborhood, connect them to resources and needs.
Sabrina works with residents, staff, board members, volunteers and partners to make positive, long-term and lasting change in the Rosewood community.
Tsering's role is to work with other culturally specific community organizers to ensure that community members have access to resources and support them, and advocate for changes they want to see.
Board of Directors
Ian joined our Board in 2016. He is a senior research associate and Oregon state community development field manager at The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.
LaVerne joined our Board in 2019. She is on the board for Mt.Hood Community College.
Jorrel joined the Board in 2017. Jorrel works both in metal fabrication and the mountain sports industry, and is very passionate about nature and volunteering.
Malia joined the Board in 2020.
She is a retired forest ecologist and science advisor, and co-founder of the Refugee and Immigrant Hospitality Organization.
