Wow, Rosewood is having an exciting week:
On Saturday, April 14th we had a Rosewood Community Celebration and Fundraiser that was attended by about 90 people and raised over $3,000. This was a magical and energizing event for us to recognize the partnerships we’ve created over the past couple of years and we built new relationships with a lot of folks that are joining the Rosewood movement.
HUGE thanks to everyone that helped pull this beautiful event together: TaborSpace, Hoda’s Middle Eastern Cuisine, Stark Firs, Victory Outreach Church, Freedom Four Square Church, Rex Heating and Air, Lockaby Enterprises, LLC, Reynosa, Beacon Sound and many more.
Our keynote speakers Portland Police Chief Mike Reese and Multnomah County Commissioner Diane McKeel did a wonderful job letting our community know that we have their support in Rosewood. Partners that attended included: Gresham City Councilors, Gresham Police Department, Portland Police Bureau, Multnomah County Department of Community Justice and Sheriff’s Office, Portland Development Commission, Victory Outreach Church, Freedom FourSquare Church, MercyCorpsNW, IRCO gang outreach, Oliver Elementary, Oliver SUN, Scan Design Furniture, Software Association of Oregon, and of course many amazing CITIZENS OF ROSEWOOD!
Pictures coming soon…
This past Tuesday was our first Open Gym at Oliver Elementary School. We are reaching out to youth ages 12-16 in the immediate Rosewood area to come play basketball at Oliver every Tuesday from 4:30-6:30pm. If you know youth that might be interested, send them to Rosewood to get a permission slip before next Tuesday!
On Wednesday, April 18th we held our monthly Rosewood Community meeting attended by 32 folks. We talked about plans for a mural on the 76 Gas Station wall, plans for a community garden in the Lynwood Friends field at SE 162nd and Alder, and a Metro study of the 162nd MAX Station area.
In the afternoon we held piano lessons with Mt. Hood Community College Student Haddasah Jeremiah:

We need your help spreading the word about Rosewood and volunteering with activities and fundraising, so contact us to get involved!
