We started the pilot of a Backpack Food program at Parklane and Oliver Elementary Schools in the Rosewood area a little over a month ago, check out this great article in the Gresham Outlook by Sara Hottman: Rosewood Backpack Food Project
This project provides food for the weekend for 20 kids in our neighborhood. We are hoping to expand with more support in the future. Our partners include:
The Rosewood Initiative, Schools Uniting Neighborhoods (SUN) at Oliver and Parklane Elementaries, Sunshine Division of the Portland Police Bureau, Parklane Church, Lincoln St Church, and others.
This is a wonderful way to work together to support the most vulnerable youth in the Rosewood area, please let us know if you can help.
BIG thanks to Caitlin Morrison for taking the leadership on this project, and to Kyle Curtis and Lucy Adams (SUN) for implementing the project at both schools.
