Multnomah County Department of Community Justice, Alternative Adult Community Service Program

Dori A. Larson from Multnomah County Lead Community Works Leader sent me this for this blog.  She helped coordinate the clean up with John McVay:

The Department of Community Justice, Alternative Adult Community Service program supports the Rosewood Initiative and the community members who want to make their neighborhood a great place to live.  We focus our efforts on improving public safety and ongoing community development.  We have a lot of projects underway and our teams are always on the move.  Recently, we collaborated with Officer Robert Brown to assist in the clean up of Kelly Butte.  Our crews also work with Sgt. John Scruggs to remove litter and debris so that community members can take pride in their surroundings.  Our crews do a lot of work to protect the natural beauty of the area.  In NADAKA park, we removed invasive plants and weeds so that native plants can thrive.  These activities also help make the parks and green spaces a safer place for residents to enjoy.  We dedicate thousands of work hours each year to planting new trees in partnership with the Friends of Trees program.  If you drive around the Rosewood area, there is a good chance that you may see DCJ crews at work!
