MLK Day of Service at Rosewood!

Writer: Jossie de la GarzaJossie de la Garza

To honor Dr.King’s legacy of unity and community advocacy, The Rosewood Initiative partnered with Confluence Environmental Center on January 19th, 2015 to clean up the Rosewood neighborhood! Almost 60 AmeriCorps volunteers came to 162nd and Stark and removed graffiti, picked up litter, trimmed hedges, and beautified the neighborhood!

A big thanks to Rob Loucks from Confluence Environmental Center, Vini Nguyen and Kate Hamel from Multnomah County Health Department, SOLVE, and Dennis LoGiudice from the Portland Graffiti Abatement Program!!

Special thanks to Chief Justice Paul DeMuniz who spoke to the volunteers about the importance of their volunteerism and the value of community engagement!
